Mamafest: About Us

Our Mission

Fighting breast cancer on the slopes, Mamafest strives to promote breast cancer awareness among youth and adults and to raise funds for breast cancer research organizations and educational programs.

Our Board Members

Being genetically at-risk for breast cancer, Carolyn, our founder, was inspired by the nationally recognized Boarding for Breast Cancer Foundation to create a local organization aimed at educating youth and raising valuable funds for breast cancer research. In the winter of 2000 she recruited her sister, Adrian O’Neill, and co-worker, Jackie Loggia, and Mamafest was born. Two years later Mamafest grew to include Andrea Seitz, Tracie Smith, and Wendy Williams.

Adrian was motivated to help create Mamafest, like her sister, by their family connection to breast cancer. Adrian has combined her four years of production experience in the arts and entertainment industry with 11 years of advertising and marketing experience into one great role as our Event Manager.

Jackie's passion for snowboarding started in Colorado, where she lived for six years. After moving to the great Northwest, she wanted to channel her love for snowboarding into something that could somehow make a difference. She teamed up with her co-worker, Carolyn, and helped get the first Mamafest off the ground, and she's been working hard ever since.

As a fellow snowboarder, Andrea became interested in the grass roots efforts of Mamafest in 2002. After losing both a family member and a friend to breast cancer, she decided to join in the fight. Andrea has an M.A. in conflict management, is a trained mediator, and a professional in Human Resources.

Tracie’s been on skis since she was knee high to a lift operator. Since leaving teaching in the late 90's, she’s been putting her BS in Child Psychology to good use in the snow sports industry. Tracie’s been involved with cancer fundraisers since her dad died of Leukemia when she was a kid. She uses her experience and contacts in the snow sports community to organize our demo and keep the vendors happy.

Wendy decided to join Mamafest so she could combine her love of snowboarding with a great chance to educate youth. However, her fight against breast cancer started years back when her owb grandmother was diagnosed. Wendy is a registered nurse with a BSN and is currently the Health Promotions nurse for Naval Station Everett. She keeps up with the latest medical trends and uses her background in program development and health education to make sure that Mamafest is not only a great resource, but also current with the medical community.
