Mamafest Past Events: December 6, 2000
 |
Inspired by the national organization Boarding for Breast Cancer,
Mamafest was founded in 2000. In December of 2000, Mamafest turn out and
participation levels were high energy and lots of fun. Three premier bands
played at the day's event: Bent, Stamad and Cookie. Regardless of the low
levels of snow (or almost lack there of), the music and good spirits kept
people coming and the funds a flowing. |
The event raised over $3000 for the Boarding For Breast Cancer Foundation
through a raffle and individual donations. Prizes for the raffle were
donated by K2, Burton, Ride, Salomon, Arbor, Palmer, Lib Tech/Gnu, Option,
Polar Wrap, Santa Cruz, Dragon Optics and Zeal Eyewear. In addition, local
companies, such as General Employment, The Seattle Weekly, Kiss 106.1,
Platinum Records, Sentient Audio Sound and Stevens Pass all kicked down to
make the event happen. It was an amazing day that was produced on a
shoestring budget.

Mamafest is creating an atmosphere directed to the Northwest, for the
Northwest, through focusing on music that represents the Northwest scene.
Most importantly, the money we generate is directly donated to
other local non-profits like Fred Hutch and our inspiration BBC.
 |
There are many other events that happen throughout the snowboarding season
like the Legendary Mt. Baker Bank Slalom, and various competitions. Mamafest is
a way to give back to the Northwest and hype up the snowboarding scene,
music scene, competition circuit and support local area non-profits in the
process of having a really, really good time! |
